I hate it when I am at some business and a 20-year old asks me “Do you have a computer so that I can send you an email?” What I tell them is “No, send it by pony express.” All I achieve is letting them know “Yes, I am indeed an old GEEZER.” So in providing a list the websites I find particularly useful or entertaining, know that I realize many of you are aware of these sites already and my be far ahead of me (and a lot of 20-year olds) in your knowledge of the Internet world.
For those of you who do not have a computer, I sometimes envy your lack of connection to the artificial and sometimes mean, waste-of time that is often the Internet. But if you do not have a computer, how is it that you are reading this?
Anyway, here are a few of the sites I frequently look up or even subscribe to in order to receive regular updates:
News of One Sort or the Other
If I want hardcore news I can go to the New York Times, the Washington Post, or the Spokane Review, but use of these can be limited unless you pay for a subscription. Besides, I like my news filled with (although I hate to admit it) opinions, excitement, humor, speculation, surprises, and videos.
These sites aren’t listed in any order and I will just let you find out what they are about on your own. Warning, I like some sites that promote ideas that are very different than my own in order to know what the other side is thinking or doing.
New Books and Reviews
Movie/TV Reviews and Trailers
Lots of arts sites, but this site highlights only the most creative of artist—never disappoints.
Just for Fun
Not for Fun
These are a few of the sites I visit time and again and thought if you haven’t discovered them yourselves, you might want to take a look at them.
I would very much to hear your comments if you have sites you think other GEEZERS might find interesting.
